Make a documentary from a script
Turn a written script into a narrated documentary with real footage, maps, motion graphics, captions and music.
Step 1: Open Documentary
From the dashboard choose Documentary (or go to Create). Give your project a title; it's used for the file name and your thumbnail later.
Step 2: Paste or write your script
Paste your full script. Write it the way you'd say it out loud. Place names, dates and numbers are picked up automatically for maps and graphics.
Step 3: Choose a format
Pick 16:9 for long-form YouTube or 9:16 for Shorts. You'll see the estimated length and credits before you start.
Step 4: Pick a narrator or upload your voice
Preview narrators on your own script, or upload your own voiceover (see the voiceover tutorial).
Step 5: Choose captions and music
Select a caption style and a music mood. You can change both later in the editor.
Step 6: Create
Press Create. Orsona narrates the script, finds exact-match footage for every line, builds maps and motion graphics, then quality-checks every frame.
Step 7: Review and download
Watch the preview, swap anything you don't like in the scene editor, then download the MP4.
