Content & licensing
How Orsona keeps the visuals in your documentaries and animated videos commercial-safe.
Documentary videos: real footage
For documentary projects, Orsona only selects real footage and photography that is in the public domain, released under a permissive license such as CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA, or offered under a license that allows free commercial use. Licenses are checked automatically for every asset at the time it is selected.
What we filter out
Any asset under a non-commercial (NC) or no-derivatives (ND) license, any asset with an unknown license, and graphic assets such as logos, seals, charts and watermarked images are excluded automatically.
Animated videos: Create with AI
Illustrations and animation in Create with AI projects are generated for your video from your script and your character. You may use the finished videos you export, including in monetised videos, subject to our terms. If you upload a character, logo or drawing, you must own it or have permission to use it.
Credits
Every real-footage asset used in a documentary is recorded with its title, author, source page and license. Credits can be shown as an end roll and are always available as a list to paste into your video description. For CC BY and CC BY-SA material, keeping that credit is required.
Your responsibilities
Licenses can change, and archives occasionally mislabel material. Orsona checks licenses at the time of search, but you remain responsible for your final video, your script and anything you upload, including characters. If you believe an asset has been used incorrectly, contact us and we'll investigate promptly.
Trademarks and people
Public-domain status covers copyright, not trademarks or personality rights. Avoid implying endorsement by organisations or identifiable people shown in footage, and don't use animated characters that copy someone else's protected character or a real person's likeness without permission.
